About this listen

If humans want to take the Earth back, they'll need to survive the night.

The Savage Earth, Book 1:

It's been over a century since the humans lost the war for Earth. Cities have been reclaimed by nature, and the planet is quiet and empty by day. At night, feral vampires - more beast than man - roam the lands, hungry for blood. The few thousand surviving humans live on a massive airship that circles the Earth, moving with the rotation of the planet so it's always in sunlight.

Alexandria Goddard is a member of the elite Ground Mission Team, a group tasked with making dangerous runs to the planet's surface for the supplies needed to keep the ship airborne. But even as the team fights for their people's survival, dangerous forces are working against them. A growing movement aboard the airship believes it's time for humans to resettle the Earth, and they are willing to go to extreme measures to make their vision a reality. As the situation aboard the ship becomes more desperate, Alex and her team discover a terrifying secret about the vampires infesting the Earth.

The Savage Night, Book 2:

Night is coming for Alex. Danger from the vampires below. Turmoil in the city above. Nowhere is safe and every day is a battle.

As Alex struggles to become the leader her team needs, she must contend with new allies and old enemies to have any chance of saving the city she loves. Nothing the Ground Mission Team has faced so far can prepare them for what's next. But if their mission is successful, the world will change forever.

Contains Books 1 and 2 of the Vampire World Saga.

What I’ve been missing

It’s been a really long time since I’ve “read” a book this good. The story line is amazing, the performance of the reader is good, they read the book without making you cringe (unlike a lot of fantasy stories on here). I highly recommended this book.

A surprisingly good listen

When I saw this for free as part of my membership I downloaded it without many expectations, and kept it as a spare for when I Finnished my Maine backlog, I thought it would be some teen vamp twilight knockoff, but it's pleasantly intelligent, it's got politics, interesting and realistic team dynamics. The narrator struggles to make male voices distinct from each other, but it's a minor thing and doesn't really distract from the story. I also like how they don't go too magical with the vamps, it's got hints of fantasy, but for the majority it's all grounded and exiting.

A great adventure

Tense sometimes and not stopping soon.Generating sympathy and fear for those who have been done in by politics.
Yet lots of actions and determination by a team refusing to let obstacles take them down

An interesting take on an old genre

I was a little unsure a few chapters into the first book whether I was going to push through but I am glad I did. It was a thoroughly enjoyable vampire story with just enough ‘newness’ to make it original. Alex is a dynamic and interesting main character who keeps the story engaging as she learns and adapts. It’s not always shocking in terms of plot but still well written enough that even when characters you expect to die do, you can happily keep listening. The narration is great. Good character voices and not overdone. It sounds like she is fully invested in the plot at some points which makes it even more engaging
I have already gone ahead and bought the next two in the series because I can’t wait to see how this all ends!

Action packed

A great start to a series. The world building and characters are very well described. The emotions created in me the reader are quite strong I feel anger at the ‘bad’ people and needed tissues when sad moment’s presented themselves. The narrator was clear and put expression into the read. I am anxious to read the next book.

Brilliant book with outstanding narration!

I have not been this impressed overall with an audio book in a long time! Not only will the story line draw you in but Therese Plummer is the best narrator I have come across! If I could give this book 10 stars, I would!
