About this listen
Alvin had a rough week. Thrown into a digital death game, Apocalypse Gates, with only his wits and a less than helpful AI handler, Alvin's prospects for survival looked bleak. Managing not only to survive but to thrive, he helped build a settlement of survivors in Green River, Utah. Along the way he met the very sexy and broken Gothy. He's taken on the undead, mutated bugs and animals and the worst possible enemy - other people - and triumphed. Nothing looked like it would be a major problem, except for the flight of dragons.
Now the Gates are opening, and Alvin and Gothy are heading out along the roads of America. They'll need to earn XP, upgrade their stats and gear, find new settlements, find allies, and hope they survive long enough to explore the world and each other. The end of the world had come, and a new one awaits. Welcome back to Apocalypse Gates.
(This book contains adult situations, in all their horror and glory. Ranging from abuse to drug use to murder. It also contains graphic sex scenes, which contain elements of BDSM. You’ve been warned.)

I like this series
But the update is a bit annoying with needing repairers with out a repair kit that not cheap
Or guns breaking by the bullet will really mess up group battles like the zombies hordes
Zombies can’t upgrade gear can they if someone dies with gear on will the zombies have the gear
Can runes exploded if messed with

had to skip some parts
would be nice if there was more focus on the story and less of the in depth I go about there sex life. I get it..they like to fuck but that can't be all the story has to offer.

Terrible & annoying
Very poor story that’s been bulked out with plenty of sex as a distraction and annoying narration especially with the constant over pronunciation of “hero”.

author's fantasy dressed up as sci 9
The narrator just rubbed me the wrong way, but I got used to it after a while.
The occasional sex scene is fine, but more than half of the narrative is taken up with graphic sex scenes, descriptions of Gothie, or other characters ogling Gothie.
The character of the foppish rogue that doesn't care about anyone, but with a heart of gold is author insert, Mary Sue at its worst.

The MC is reactionary which is dislikable.
The character with the most character development is random asshole 1-12. seriously they went through 12 different permutations of the same and sheep in the flock encounter type. first is the abuser, then it was highscool bully, wannabe settlement leader (and gang), lechers, lackeys, tyrant gang leader, forced lackey, zombie blockers, old time misogynist eventually ending with the redemption arc dragon slayer asshole. Otherwise it's just the same thing that was established in the first book, in relation to the main characters.
The encounters were a bit one dimensional and bland which can be expected with guns in a fantasy apocalypse setting, with the rewards being seriously lacking as a pure exp reward for everything is really bland. The author perhaps realised that if they want to avoid using the repetition of the same story elements that he needed to change things up, yet retroactively changing the game and not showing how the elements will work in practise alongside the story won't earn I high rating from me. along with the minus 10hr runtime for a litrpg story.
A lack of purpose, initiative and urgency makes the novel a vehicle for an author to play put their fantasys, not for creating a compelling story.

Too much smut
The actual book part of this book could have been done in half the time. A 80/20 split would have made this much better without a big loss
