About this listen
Our woodland had become a utopia; an wonderous place of ideal perfection.
To us, at least, it felt this way. We had no concern what others thought of our world. They were considered nothing more than interlopers, threats, and were not welcome there.
Our clan was once again tenfold; every beast of the wood, large or small, all species, were present once again, and we all lived in harmony.
Each and every day was one to be celebrated, and we danced around the ceremonial fires each night and gave thanks for what blessings we had, and were not concerned with what we didn't have. For us, what we had was enough, and we made sure we relished in what we had to be thankful for with each new sunrise.
All was calm and peaceful again.
That is, until I'd found a trail of fresh blood, and by implementing my acute sense of smell, had determined beyond a shadow of a doubt it was not human blood, but animal blood.
I'd also found spent rifle shells littering the ground nearby, and it at that moment I knew that once again, our peaceful solitude was about to be interrupted once again by mankind's lust for blood—but I wasn't aware at the time as to what extent.
But I would find out soon enough...
