About this listen
Douglas Petersen’s family is on the brink of dissolution. His marriage of 21 years to Connie is almost over. When autumn comes around, their son Albie will leave for college. Connie has decided to leave soon after.
But before everything falls apart, there's still the summer holidays to get through - a Grand Tour of Europe's major cities - and over the course of the journey, Douglas devises a plan to win back the love of his wife and repair his troubled relationship with his son.

Mirror on yourself?
A wonderfully narrated story with excellent voice impressions that switches back and forth between ‘now’ and ‘then’ seamlessly. If you recognise some of yourself as I did with the main character Douglas, it becomes very funny to listen to. Depending upon your own experiences, you may find this a very emotional listen. I selected this story based on my enjoyment of the serialised TV version of ‘One Day’ by the same author. Well worth the time.

Wry and honest portrayal of a marriage
A touching portrayal of a marriage that has for one of the partners "run its course" this is a story full of love. The wry observations of the husband who tells the story are so sad but also so humorous- great character insights written with deadpan delivery . I thought this was very well narrated and I enjoyed listening to the book very much.
