About this listen

Ruwen’s life is inside out, literally. Trapped in the Spirit Realm by a hostile god’s magic, Ruwen’s spells, abilities, and skills no longer work. Worse, his secret "cultivation" ability is now blindingly evident.

A critical clue, given to Ruwen during the betrayal, makes him question the motives behind the treachery and offers a path home. But the Spirit Realm is dangerous, and with no other options, Ruwen must embrace his cultivation, learn to harness his power, and create his core. Failure will leave him defenseless and guarantee an eternity of pain and suffering.

And as Ruwen struggles to find a way forward, he is stunned to discover plans that span over 10,000 years. Secrets involving his missing parents, the gods, and himself.

To face what’s coming, Ruwen must risk everything for the skills to survive.

Spoiled Story

loved the story and the narrator's performance but my enjoyment was spoiled by the excessive level up statistics. Come on three consecutive chapters of the hero's level up speech.

Revelations Abound

Ruin finally starts to come into his own in book three as he is confronted with the tip of the iceberg that is his fate and we learn just a few of our lingering questions + Travis’s narration is superb as always

Better with every book

The plot thickens and story starts to unfold. Feels like the real story is about to stay

Ruin said, sift said, Ruin said, Hama said

I listen to quite a few audiobooks and one thing that turns a good story to an average or bad story is when dialogue is occurring, if the word “said” is repeated constantly it destroys the story and is very hard not to concentrate on.
This series is riddled with very poor dialogue that is frustrating to the point of despair.
The story is excellent but I’m having massive amounts of trouble with the said whenever someone finishes saying something. I would have expected a little more from Travis Baldee (couldn’t remember how to spell his name) he is an excellent narrator, one of the best.
Just a suggestion but maybe have a look at this issue in future books.
