About this listen

Being an identical twin doesn't come without issues. No one can tell us apart, not even our parents sometimes. We don't usually use that to our advantage, but it comes in handy when my brother needs help breaking up with his boyfriends - which happens more than I'd care to admit.

I know it's enabling him, but I can't say no to Anders. I will do anything for my twin. The breakups always go the same; they're swift and simple. Until Reed. He's everything I've fantasized about but never allowed myself to have.

When I give in to temptation and begin to freak out, it's not because he's a guy. It's because he thinks I'm my brother, and I can't bring myself to tell him the truth.

Contains mature themes.

Ok

Different storyline from E.Finley books I am used to. Did not like the voice of the narrator even though I love Joel Leslie.

It was muddled for me 2.5 ⭐️

The story was ok, but not one of Eden’s better books, it just wasn’t enough on every level. The twin thing was underwhelming (although the brothers protective nature was clear, too much was centred on Anders near murder and its fallout affect) and the rest of the story (or lack of) for the actual main characters wasn’t strong enough on it’s own. The sex scenes were a tad lacking as well.
I’m a huge Joel Leslie fan but Reid wasn’t the right character for him, he sounded better when he was doing Law’s voice and Law’s dialogue was much better written from Reid’s POV, I get that Law was different when he was playing Anders but it was was all muddled. Joel does do an Australian accent well but I’ve said this before, I wish Aussie authors, like Eden or NR Walker in this genre, would give Aussie narrators a chance, it’s the only way to get a truly authentic experience and also promote local voice actors. I’ve avoided listening to any books with Antony Ferguson in the past based on the samples I’ve heard, but gave this a go because Joel was also narrating. I think on this occasion he wasn’t too bad with the Aussie accent, it isn’t easy, hardly anyone gets it right, he only slipped into a Kiwi accent occasionally (which is better than many narrators have tried to achieve, there so many terrible examples out there). My problem with his narration is that he sounds like he is doing a documentary (The old Malcolm Douglas ones came to mind), I had to YouTube one and it was an uncanny likeness. On occasion where Law had some more relaxed dialogue/vocabulary or swearing, Antony sounded better. I’ve heard samples of his other accents and it’s more of the same, more oratory than narration.
Although Anders and a Brody have potential, I’m not sure it’s worth the credit if a bit more depth isn’t there, both in story and character development (not just theirs but anyone else in the story). 🤷‍♀️

Top notch voice acting for a decent premise

The love story of Law and Reed is beautifully presented by the voice actors. Unwritten Law has a very interesting premise, a premise that I feel gets all over the place every now and then. Overall, the performances of our narrators carried the emotions and fittingly portrayed the main characters.

Good but I hate Aussie accents

Am Aussie but hearing Aussie accents is such a turn off, would prefer generic American

amazing book, well written

the story itself was really good and I love these narrators but I have to admit that as an Australian myself I found that both authors had a little too much British in their accents, also I find that Australian accents real or faked make everyone sound like an arsehole so it made this book kinda hard to listen to

Great premise, OK story but (sigh) poor audiobook

Lawson Steele is used to bad breakups: his identical twin brother, Anders, is a serial dater who then panics and gets Law to do the dirty work. When Anders rejects teacher Reed, Law can’t bring himself to dump him, but when will he reveal he’s not Anders? I loved the premise, didn’t mind the story, but I think Eden Finley has written better dialogue. I also found it hard to connect with the characters because of the audio narration. Antony Ferguson (British) and Joel Leslie (American) both try to tackle Australian accents with varying degrees of success. Joel is very close and Antony has the flattened vowels down pat, but also flattens the emotion and pace so he sounds like an artificial voice at times.
