There were several things Vera was quite skilled at. Wielding a blade and pretending to be human were two of them. Following the rules and controlling her anger, were not.
Raised in the heart of the Matherin Empire, Vera spent most of her life forced to hide what she was, and what she could do. Until, one day, she foolishly confronts a strange male she spies tailing the Crown Prince.
Not only does the altercation not go as planned, but the male claims she possesses a power his people vitally need. He’s desperate to return home, and he refuses to leave without her.
Staying would give her a life she never thought she’d have, but leaving could provide her with the only chance to learn more about her past.
The more answers she uncovers about herself, the more questions arise - and nothing is adding up. Vera must decide what to do, not only with her life, but with the ancient power inside her.

enjoyable foundation
i like the fantasy tropes and it's a first time listen for me for both the narrator and the author.
I wish book 2 and 3 was on audible as It would be nice to know how it all pans out.
I enjoyed the story and the descriptions of the characters, and it's nice to see our heroine coming into her own. I suspect she will be kickass by the end of the trilogy.
I read some reviews that weren't very praising in regards to the hero but I'll have to stay tuned.

inside a cage
Untainted by Lilian t. James. Vera has been kept in the dark and a cage for the majority of her life craving to be set free and just wanting to do what she wants to instead of what others want. Loved the story and characters and cannot wait for the next book

Best book I've read in a long while
absolutely amazing if you like from Blood and Ash you will love this, strong ass female ever growing plot, I'm excited to see what comes next.
