Raised in a mob-controlled suburb of Chicago, Sidney Heard grew up wanting to be a gangster. He was on probation by the age of 13 and continued building his criminal resume over the next half a century. He was a professional arsonist for nearly 20 years, escaped from jail twice, and ran a gold scandal grossing over a quarter of a million dollars, and that’s just to name a few of his illegal escapades. To top it off, he played a role in one of the most important Supreme Court decisions of all time (Gideon v. Wainwright).
Sidney’s underworld connections ran from the Chicago-based Italians to the Mexican Mafia. He even worked undercover for the federal government at one point in his life. However, all of Sidney’s so-called glory would come with a price. While working undercover for the FBI DEA, Sidney became hooked on drugs. He soon found himself staring at 125 years of jail time and a massive criminal record and pushing his 50th birthday.

Truly awful.
Oh boy, where to begin?
This a great story that might have had the potential to make a fantastic movie, but the author is so bad at their "job" that this amazing story has been completely been butchered. The protagonist in this tale must be so embarrassed by this book!
Firstly, the writing is weak, it seems like a first draft, even though it's apparently 5 years of research,,,
The only reason that I made it 75% of the way though this train wreck is that, I couldn't look away, I knew I'd get a refund and I couldn't wait to write this review.
For some reason the author occasionally addresses the reader in these, corny as hell and oddly placed comments that aren't funny or necessary, Also she writes as though she's never heard of crime before. I couldn't believe how bad some of it was. Mixed metaphors, vacuous descriptions of people or situations and mind-numbing editorialising that only comes into full force after the half way mark.
Then then there's the narration. Honestly. Its as bad as it gets. It sounds like a 6 grader being asked to read Shakesphere on the first day after they just moved to a new school. Either that or they sent the guy the script in 5-word chunks, and he read them out cold, Then they sticthed it together.
Clearly not one peron involved in this shit fight actually listened to the end product,
If this was my first Audible experience, I'd have never come back.
It's so bad that truly, Audible should take it down. If this was my first brush with audio books, I'd have my ears filled in..
