About this listen
Would you live a lie to hold onto the one you love?
Dean and Jason are best friends, like brothers since boyhood, now architecture students and college roommates. They've always had each other's back, but when one walks in on the other with another man, everything changes. How do you explain to your best friend that he's the one you've always wanted, that until now your life has been a lie?
Desperation and shame are two dirty words that run through Jason's veins. He carries the scars from a wayward priest who stole his innocence and left him shattered. Meanwhile for years he's watched Dean pursuing woman after woman, as his own heart slowly breaks.
When their world blows apart, they learn the powerful bond between them has more fire than either understood. Can two broken souls find the light in their darkness and come together to make a whole, or will sins of the past be forever unforgiven?

Loved it!
I am absolutely shocked at how invested I got into this. This was my first ever audio book, and I am so glad I chose Unforgiven. I found the story dramatic, hot, and emotional, but cleverly balanced. I found I could relate to the characters on different levels, and the narrators performed perfectly.

Odd voices
Story was good. The narrators voice was a little distracting especially when doing female voices.

A trauma to love story
I loved the development of Jason and Deans story. Jason has a horrible history of abuse and religious hate. The story was very well written and although there are triggers their love is always at the fore. Narrators were amazing and brought Jason and Dean to life with all of each of their personalities.

High angst, high steam, superb story!
Best friends since childhood and now flatmates studying architecture at the same college, Dean thinks he knows everything about Jason. So his world is rocked when he catches Jason having sex with a guy. There’s only ever been one guy for Jason but he’s always been to scared to tell Dean how he feels about him. Given the two years of child sexual abuse he suffered through at the hands of his local parish priest, Jason has always kept secrets of him, and when Dean confronts him about being gay, he starts to unravel.
Phew! This GFY / redemption romance was high angst and high steam, a real rollercoaster! We get a lot of flashbacks of Jason’s time with his priest that are unsettling but also lots of tender moments and tension between Dean and Jason. Dean has always thought of himself as straight and battles his growing feelings for Jason like a game fish on the hook and, given his past trauma, Jason self-destructs every so often, so things are bumpy for most of the book. That might wear down some readers but I love the wild ride! Narrators Eric London (as Dean) and Iggy Toma (as Jason) were absolutely SUPERB, they hit all the emotions perfectly (currently free on the Audible Plus catalogue)!

5+ stars. Loved it
A perfect blend of heat, angst, trauma and love. The way these characters grew and evolved together throughout the book was beautifully written. Perfect narration too

Worth a listen
I nearly gave up on this one after a couple of hours - it wasn’t progressing how I had hoped. But I’m glad I pushed on as it became a good story.
The details of past abuse were very hard to listen to (be very careful of TWs) but they showed why Jason had so many issues. The couple overcame a lot of struggles, with Dean being supportive the whole way.

Roller coaster of emotions
Wow My heart goes out for JJ and his horrible start to his adult life. I start off the book hating Dean for being such an ah, but I think he redeems himself towards the end.

Seems very unrealistic..
Finished the book but felt like the relationship between the two characters was rushed and underdeveloped. I think considering their age however I wouldn't expect a more dramatic complication or obstacle to overcome. It however still felt quite shallow.
