About this listen

This Is Going to Hurt was the publishing phenomenon of the century, read by many millions, loved by at least fifty of them, and adapted into a major TV series. But it was only part of the story.

By turns hilarious, heartbreaking and humbling, Undoctored is about what happens when a doctor hangs up his scrubs, but medicine refuses to let go of him.

It's about an extraordinary medical school education.

It's about opening old wounds and examining the present-day scars.

It's about hospital admissions and personal ones.

It's about blowing up your life and stitching it back together.

It's about being a doctor and being a patient.

It's about 300 pages long.

Undoctored is Adam Kay's funniest and most moving book yet—an astonishing portrait of a life in and out of medicine, from one of Britain's finest storytellers.

This unabridged audio download, narrated by the author, features extra diary entries recorded in audio for the first time, and an audiobook exclusive interview with bestselling author and broadcaster The Reverend Richard Coles.

Hilarious & Heart breaking

Adam Kay is a brilliant story teller. He so brilliantly manages to flick between comedy & tragedy in a way that just draws you in entirely. Such important messages to read & hear.

Riveting

This book, read by the author, is harrowing in parts and humorous in others. It’s a very interesting insight into two professions (medical and writing) and the particular life of one individual.

A Very Pleasant Surprise

Having been well & truly immersed within the world of Medicine & Physiology, my concerns prior to reading were the potential repetition of facts & issues already known, experienced etc would perhaps marr my enjoyment of the book. This was not the case, and Adam narrates & unravels his experiences in such a superb manner, with comedy aplenty, both black & standard, along with injecting (no pun intentionally inserted) so much depth from his own very personal life, that it was a joy to listen.
I would highly recommend this book all, both those with or without having their own prior knowledge & experiences.
A really great listen start to finish.

Brilliant and raw

I love the way Adam Kay writes (and reads). He is honest and raw. At times laugh out load funny and at times heart wrenching, I absolutely loved hearing how his life went after he put the stethoscope down. Get on it like a wolf on a panini! :)

Best yet

Excellent heart wrenching raw account of life coloured by working in medicine. Adam’s ability to change the world is much great as an author than as a doctor.

Worth the read!

Enjoyed!
Lots of laughs along the way, and a good insight into the reality of how people in the medical field actually feel

Personal and challenging

This is definitely less laugh out loud than his first book, but that’s not a bad thing. This is a challenging read in places - let’s not shy away from these stories.

Very funny

My only issue with this book is that I’d prefer it was longer. Very funny and just as great as the last one.
