About this listen
When Ellie Kent moves to an English village with her new husband Graham, she fears the villagers will always see her at that young American who snared their attractive vicar during his sabbatical in California. But this challenge is nothing compared to what happens when she stumbles across a body in the churchyard.
The villagers insist they don't know the murdered man, so suspicion mounts that the killer must be the incomer - the vicar's new wife. As evidence piles up against her, Ellie tries to stay one step ahead of the police to unravel a decades-old literary mystery and love story. Will others die before she can solve it? And what will be left of her new life and marriage, even if she succeeds?

Nice story
Not amazing but not terrible. Good setting and the warmth of the small village church community was definitely there. An easy read, and although I guessed the murderer, the end was still engaging and had me listening hard for how it unfolded.

Doesn't work
I found this a great book for insomnia. The Americans trying to do English isn't good...

It’s a cracker. Good story great narrator
Well worth a listen then reader does such a great job moving between a delicate American accent to British accent. Story stands up pretty well with only one obvious misdirection without adequate explanation from the author. No spoilers so you’ll have to listen and see if you agree.

Unrealistic
Insubstantial plot and unfortunate religious overtones. Tepid main characters and unrealistic and mundane portrayal of the American in an English village.
