About this listen
The NBC journalist who covered - and took fire from - Donald Trump on the campaign trail offers an inside look at the most shocking presidential election in American history.
Katy Tur was one of a select cadre of NBC reporters on the road during the grueling 2016 presidential campaign, reporting from small towns and venues across America for more than 16 months. At the beginning of the primaries, Tur was assigned the Trump campaign - a campaign widely considered a long shot by politicos and the media. But primary after primary, the novice outsider trumped his rivals and won the hearts and votes of many Republicans. His appeal to working-class whites, the GOP's traditional middle and upper middle class base, and conservative evangelicals took him all the way to the White House, astonishing the nation and the world.
Unbelievable is Tur's inside account of being embedded with the campaign, revealing what it was like to report on the most combative and volatile major party candidate ever to run for office and win. At first Trump tried to charm Tur into providing fawning coverage. When that didn't work, he stooped to berating and shaming her, stoking the rage of his legion of supporters - many who threatened Tur and other penned-in reporters at his events. The vitriol reached such a fever pitch that following one rally, during which Trump launched a personal attack against her, the Secret Service had to accompany Tur to her car. But Katy was not alone. Millions of Americans watched in disbelief as Trump ordered Tur to "be quiet" during one of his many press conferences and called her "disgraceful", "third-rate", "not nice", and "Little Katy". In response thousands of people across the country rushed to her defense, tweeting #imwithtur.
Intriguing, disturbing, and powerful, Unbelievable is an unprecedented eyewitness account of the 2016 election from an intelligent, dedicated journalist at the center of it - a thoughtful historical record that offers eye-opening insights and details on our political process, the media, and the mercurial 45th president of the United States.

Interesting insight
Listening to how he rose to President makes me fearful at the way human behaviour is heading, he should never have succeeded ! What a web of lies he and others got away with and so openly, makes me think twice if I ever do business in that part of the world. I also found the reasoning for the author not voting mind boggling too.... I wonder if given the chance to repeat and seeing what is happening now if her mind would change?
Very interesting insight!!

Great story
Based on facts I found this a riveting listen. The only thing I found a bit annoying was the way the author read her own thoughts like she was reading a news item, covering a story. I don’t know, it would have been nice to have a bit of different tone throughout the book instead of constantly feeling like I was watching the news

Unbelievable
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This is an honest, candid and at times fun account of an on the ground reporter following a quite uncharacteristic electoral campain. It is true that what is detailed in her book will become historical facts; we will be able to go back to significant moments that baffled the world looking at the American elections which were supposed to be the exercise of democracy at its best. I am still trying to come to grip with the choice the American Electoral
College made chosing everything that stand against moral integrity for the White House. Manipulation is what put this man as so called 'leader of the free world' and I am looking forward to see him out. Thanks Katy and keep up your good work. I love journalists who have a strong view of their tasks as I was one of those.

Excellent factual look at the 2016 Trump election
Wonderful to listen to the entire Trump campaign. Interesting to be able to compare what this account that was obviously written through out the campaign to what we now know about Russia. Great story. Fulls in a lot of background to his win.

Too much about Katy Tur and not enough on subject
Had great potential as the subject is a significant moment in history - failed in my view with too much on what hard life Katy Tur has on the campaign trail - woe is me. Annoying as a narrator as well

Trumped by Katy Tur
This is a story mpre about Katy Tur than Trump. She manages to document most of the bizar events of the Trump media campaign . Few which are not well known by the concernrd public in the US and abroad. It does not go behind why and who devised the bizar campaign.
The writing style with alternate chapter flash backs and forward turn the book into more of a Trump reality show than political investigation.

Good summary of campaign but that's about it
No doubt that Katy Tur took the reader through the biggest events of the campaign and that she had a front row seat from which to do it.
However, her allusions to how hard her work was, and the difficulties of living on the road, were credibly repetitive and greatly detracted from the book.
