About this listen
Brought to you by Penguin.
This audiobook contains exclusive bonus content between Drs Chris and Xand van Tulleken, where they deep-dive into what you've just listened to at the end of each part.
An eye-opening investigation into the science, economics, history and production of ultra-processed food.
It's not you, it's the food.
We have entered a new 'age of eating' where most of our calories come from an entirely novel set of substances called Ultra-Processed Food, food which is industrially processed and designed and marketed to be addictive. But do we really know what it's doing to our bodies?
Join Chris in his travels through the world of food science and a UPF diet to discover what's really going on. Find out why exercise and willpower can't save us, and what UPF is really doing to our bodies, our health, our weight, and the planet (hint: nothing good).
For too long we've been told we just need to make different choices, when really we're living in a food environment that makes it nigh-on impossible. So this is a book about our rights. The right to know what we eat and what it does to our bodies and the right to good, affordable food.

Finally, some real answers and direction!
Can't fault it. Very informative and enjoyable. I've struggled with obesity and binge eating all my life and spent a fortune trying to resolve my food addiction. This book is a life saver.

Food for thought 🤔
This is a very well written book which communicates complex ideas in a simple and easy to understand manner. The level of detail the author has included is very thorough but not overwhelming. I highly recommend listening to this book even if you're not intending on changing what you eat, you will learn something about the food you eat.

Best book I’ve listened to for information about food
This book has been an incredibly good listen. It’s well researched and has a dry sense of humour on a serious topic.
After reading this book I’m going to make some serious food eating changes to hopefully lose some weight and for a better Quality of life.
A massive thanks to the author for putting the time in to release this book

Book of the year
Entertaining and important book. If you like him on the telly, you'll love this. I agree with the comment about it being life changing. Read by the author, who provides very good narration. Has some extra bits from podcasts mixed in between chapters which worked well with the format.

Game Changer
Thank you Chris, this came at the exact time I needed to hear this. Finally some clarity and common sense amongst the greedy, confusing noise of how to take care of our bodies.

I'll never look at food the same again
I absolutely recommend this book. I have listened twice now and will listen again. The background history to the development of processed foods is a real eye opener. Chris' narration is entertaining making this an easy listen. By taking more notice of what I am consuming without reducing the volume of food I find I have also lost weight.
