Isa Klein–Anfang dreißig, unverheiratet, kinderlos und semiambitionierte Lehrerin. Als in ihrem schwäbischen Dorf die Frau des Zahnarztes umgebracht wird, ruft dies den Esslinger Kommissar Bähr auf den Plan. Während Isas Mutter gemeinsam mit Freundin Renate plant, die Singletochter endlich an den Mann (Kommissar) zu bringen, kommt Isa trotz einiger tollpatschiger Pannen dem Mörder allmählicher näher und riskiert damit Kopf und Kragen.
