Publisher's Summary
At age 11, Alex Sinclair pledges an oath to the Duke of Chatham promising to serve and protect his illegitimate daughter, Lucy FitzHarris. Nine years later, the duke unexpectedly takes Alex up on his vow, offering the future Laird of Balforss his daughter's hand in marriage.

A bit predictable yet enjoyable. narrator average
Whilst the story was somewhat predictable and Lucy was sometimes frustrating as a character I still enjoyed it over all.
And as the series is free with Audible membership it's not bad for something different. I will listen for the rest of the series.

Easy read
Enjoyable and easy read. Narrator did a good job. Flowed on with the series and all worth a listen

loved this series.
yes it's a fairly predictable romance but very enjoyable. Loved the relationship between father and son and the men. Alex, written to bring forth images of the real old highlands, is a man most would love to know. Lucy drove me nuts at times with her typical stupidity. The final chapters were great . Well worth the listen. Entertaining. The entire series, though stand alone, flow easily into each other. Of course a 'modern' woman would probably feign offence at the theme's.

Firing personalities
Awesome clashes and fire in unsure love. The protective brutality involved when making sure the new loved one is safe.
