was it fiction?
this felt like a non-fiction book. it was full of facts and information but the story was lacking. I had high hopes after listening to journey to the centre of the earth. I certainly hope Jules does better in around the world

A most intriguing tale of adventure and mishap.
The style in while it is written is somewhat similar to that of a scientific journal article with few places for emotion. However you can't help but feel an attachment for each of the characters by the end.

Worth a go
The performance was very good, and avoided what could have otherwise been a 'documentaryesque' tone. The story was not too bad, but I feel that it lacked consistent thrills and tense moments. I was really impressed with the knowledge of the animals and geography that the author had considering the year it was written and was even more impressed with the imagination of the submarine! Unfortunately the few conflicts in the novel were not sustained and there was no real sense of thrills even when the infamous poulp attacked. Maybe because I just finished 1984: which in my opinion was brilliant. Give it a go anyway...you might disagree with me :)

An eternal classic
It’s a delightful story. To fully enjoy it, you must put yourself back to those days when electricity was something brand new and still not widely available. Now we still dream the same adventurous dreams, but aiming to the stars.
