Publisher's Summary
Penguin presents the audiobook edition of Trust Me by Lesley Pearse, read by Sally Scott.
She lost her parents and then was sent far, far away....
When their father tragically kills their mother, Dulcie and her sister are sent to an orphanage. Told that a 'better life' awaits them in another country, they are shipped off to Australia.
But the promises made to the sisters turn out to be lies.
And it seems to Dulcie that everyone who ever said 'trust me' somehow betrayed that trust. So when she meets Ross, another orphanage survivor, and finds he is a kindred spirit, hope swells in her heart.
But can she ever get over the past betrayals and learn to trust again? And can she fight not only for herself but also for her sister?

Quite realistic. Good book enjoyed it. Not predictable, and easy to listen to. I would read on of her books again.

Based on our horrendous past.
One of the saddest stories Ive listened to. The atrocities our fathers and mothers suffered at the hand of adults who were supposed to protect them is sickening and so very sad. This is a historical novel about real life events. Thank you, Lesley, for shining a light on the stories that could very well be one of the most evil truths in our current past.

A must read. Loved it.
One of the best books I’ve read. Such a harrowing story. There’s laughter, horror, love and sadness all wrapped up in such an addictive, long well told and narrated book.
Highly recommend.

Trust Me
I really enjoyed the the story it’s a pity it was true to life and I hope things like that never happened again but still there is wicked people in this world who think they can own other people and treat them like animals.

Disturbing but factual
As I was reading this book I was very aware that this could easily have been the story of myself and my brothers and sisters. After my father died in 1959 my mother walked away from us leaving us in care of various sorts. Fortunately her family put pressure on her and she collected us up and brought us to her brother in Australia. After a wobbly start involving again being put into care she remarried and finally provided a home for the younger children. We went to school with children from Fairbridge but were unaware of the substance of their daily lives. I wish we had known.
A very moving but disturbing story very well told.

Such an interesting audio book
This is a very sad book, but it is very worth listening to, I honestly couldn’t stop listening to it as the scope of what had happened many years ago is very disappointing

A Profoundly sad and true Story
A story of such sadness as to be almost impossible to imagine. Truly an example of man's inhumanity to man. Thank you Lesley for seeking out the truth and bringing it to us in this page turning book. A must read for all.
