Publisher's Summary

When Atlanta police detective Michael Ormewood is called out to a murder scene at the notorious Grady Homes, he finds himself faced with one of the the most brutal killings of his career: Aleesha Monroe is found in the stairwell in a pool of her own blood, her body horribly mutilated. As a one-off killing it's shocking, but when it becomes clear that it's just the latest in a series of similar attacks, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are called in, and Ormewood is forced into working with Special Agent Will Trent of the Criminal Apprehension Team, a man he instinctively dislikes.

But then, only 24 hours later, the violence Michael sees around him every day explodes in his own back yard. And it seems the mystery behind Monroe's death is inextricably entangled with a past that refuses to stay buried.

Critic Reviews

"Rape, murder and mutilation ¿ and that¿s just the beginning of Karen Slaughter¿s Triptych, a standalone thriller from the author of the Grant County series of bestsellers. Here she¿s in even more chilling form as Michael Ormewood, an Atlanta police detective investigate the brutal slaying of Aleesha Moore. The reader, Brian Keith Lewis, is excellent." ( Daily Express)
"Don't read this alone. Don't read this after dark. But do read it" ( Mirror)

Good listen.

Good characters. Only 6hrs in length which is a bit steep for a credit but easy to listen to.

Shame it was abridged!

The story felt weak and lost, not at all like a full Karin Slaughter fest...

Interesting story ..... but narration kept skiping

Took me a little while to get into the book, but stuck with it for 2 reasons. Author & Will Trent Series recommended & the current TV series. The story was quite good but the Narration was hard to follow & got lost switching between character.
One weird thing was strange music, & narration skipping.

Great story, better if it was unabridged

I really enjoyed the story line and the narration, however seemed to be alot of gaps due to it being the abridged version.

Pace is good

Excellent twists and links. Imagery was fantastic. Didnt repeat plot lines for chatacter narration / perspective which was good. Like a Jack Reacher (Lee Child) kind of book.

Fast paced, good plot line, if sometimes predictable. Great narration made for an entertaining read.
