About this listen
The Bachelor meets The Hunger Games. Ten women. A deadly contest. Only one can win the Sun King's heart.
Lor has endured twelve long years of torment under the Aurora King's rule. Her only desire is to get free and pay him back for every moment of misery she's endured.
When a surprise release finds her in the hands of the Sun King, Lor is thrust into the spotlight as she competes against nine other tributes for the role of queen. If she wins his heart, she'll earn her freedom and finally get her revenge.
But Lor doesn't belong in the Sun Queen trials. Not only does she not understand why she was freed, she isn't a citizen of the Sun King's court. The other tributes resent her presence and will stop at nothing to ensure Lor is wiped off the gameboard—permanently.
Now Lor must win because if she loses, she dies. Or worse, she'll be sent back into the hands of the Aurora King.
This glittering fae romance is perfect for fans of Sarah J. Maas, Jennifer Armentrout, and Raven Kennedy. Trial of the Sun Queen is the first book in the Artefacts of Ouranos series with an eventual happy ever after.

Great intro to the world
4.5 !!
This was fun, in the sense of how yelling at the TV when the character is frozen in front of a bus verring towards them is fun. Shady sun King and his smooth talking gets your blood boiling and illicits a miriad of theories to run through your head. I can see why many have made the ACOTAR statement, yes it follows many similar story structures, but what is truly an original thought these days? The magic and circumstances are different enough that I didn't see this as an issue. I loved that it was dual POV and the characters have been really fun. Perhaps the turnaround at the end came a bit quickly, but I truly enjoyed this book, it was a fantastic read! Already downloaded book two!
Both narrators were good, but the male narrator was exquisite!!

Loved it !!!
Had me hooked from start to finish, great story line and characters enough so that after approximately 100 plus books I have listened to this is the very first time I felt the need to write a review

Intriguing
The storyline was curvy and twisted. Hints of smut, yet, tasteful. Loved every bit. Strong recommendation to those want strong female characters and enemies to lovers.

Worth the read
Liked it all. Currently downloading book 2. Was after a fantasy storyline with substance and haven’t been disappointed. Only concern is the not seeing book 3 available yet.

Great story line
Great book. Female audio a little uneven - creating more drama than is probably needed. Male voice trying too hard to be dark and husky, it’s annoying.
Would be better to read than to listen.

Would Not Recommend
I wish I DNF'd this. It was so underwhelming, full of tropes and completely predictable. I really wanted to love this. The bachelor meets the hunger games? The blurb sounded good, but the execution was terrible. It just seems to rip off other popular books like Hunger Games, The Selection and has blended (ripped off) characters from other fantasy books, but way worse. I didn’t like the FMC at all (or any of the characters) and felt like I was being told rather than shown which isn’t something I like. The whole thing was awful… truly. As you can probably tell, the awfulness of this book has put me in a really bad mood.
