Publisher's Summary

Not long after robbing a gold train, the cabal of law-abiding individuals find a member of their group has loose lips. Not only does the talker suddenly vanish and then turn up dead, but some of the ones who are breathing down their necks meet their demise as well. The law will soon be on the trail of a wanted man.

When Jake barreled through the doorway, George fired one shot. The shot was wild. George immediately turned towards the door leading to the outside stairway, but not before a shot from Jake's gun caught him in the upper arm.

He screamed like a wounded animal and headed down the stairway. Jake was right behind him. Before George could reach the bottom of the stairs, Jake stopped, aimed and placed a shot in the back of his head. The slug took out a large part of his forehead, with blood, skull shards and brain matter spraying into the air. He toppled the remaining way and lay still at the bottom.
