About this listen
Penguin presents the audiobook edition of Tom Clancy's Power and Empire by Marc Cameron, read by Scott Brick.
As the world shakes from seemingly disparate outbursts of terrorism, Jack Ryan prepares for a crucial negotiation with President Zhou's increasingly hostile China.
But when a routine traffic stop on an isolated road in rural Texas leads to the discovery of a stolen USB stick, it becomes clear there is a dark connection between the attacks.
With tensions rising, a US spy ship in the South China Sea gets caught up in a violent storm - a storm which threatens to push it into the path of the Chinese navy, with potentially disastrous consequences.
As the international summit approaches, and the mastermind behind the violence remains at large, Jack Ryan has no choice but to face Zhou. Little does he realise he's walking straight into the jaws of the dragon...
INSPIRATION FOR THE THRILLING AMAZON PRIME SERIES JACK RYAN.

Not quite
In and of it's own in isolation this is a great book and Scott brick is good usual awesome.
But, this book is like someone trying to write in the Tom Clancy style, rather than writing in his style. I feel Marc Cameron read a few of the early chronological books and picked a few good bits and pieces and ran with those, rather then understanding the entire Ryanverse.
It also doesn't hook into the previous book properly. I feel like it was a good attempt but missed the mark.
I have subsequently listened to the test of Cameron's Jack Ryan books and can report that all is back on track, although Jrs love life is left unresolved and still discontinuous....

Ending Updated! Now is complete book
If you're like me and purchased this audiobook early, you'd have reached a fight scene with the book abruptly ending.
After following up with Amazon, the publisher has corrected it! Now this is the complete book.
It's a pretty decent story, and with the proper ending it's a lot more satisfying than the first listen through!

Did this book just finish mid battle?
Good book with a slightly different writing style then a true Tom Clancy novel. Slightly to much back story in some parts and not the normal plot twits. Then the book just stops mid battle. Please don’t tell me the author has gone down the path of creating two part books. That’s just not Clancy!

The best novel post Clancy's...
I really enjoyed the plot and specially having that "without remorse" feelings back with John Clark full on revenge mode!

Meh
Seems that this instalment marks the decline of the young Jack Ryan series. It pales in comparison to earlier works in pacing, characterisation and quality of writing.

DID NOT FINISH
Audio book did not finish. Stopped half way through the finale with a "Audible hopes you enjoyed this". I have no idea how this finishes. Very upset. great writing and narration.....the book not finishing though killed it.
