Publisher's Summary
Random House presents the audiobook edition of Toll the Hounds: The Malazan Book of the Fallen 8 by Steven Erikson, read by Michael Page.
In Darujhistan, the saying goes that Love and Death shall arrive together, dancing...
It is summer and the heat is oppressive, yet the discomfiture of the small rotund man in the faded red waistcoat is not entirely due to the sun. Dire portents plague his nights and haunt the city's streets like fiends of shadow. Assassins skulk in alleyways but it seems the hunters have become the hunted. Hidden hands pluck the strings of tyranny like a fell chorus. Strangers have arrived, and while the bards sing their tragic tales, somewhere in the distance can be heard the baying of hounds. All is palpably not well. And in Black Coral too, ruled over by Anomander Rake Son of Darkness, something is afoot - memories of ancient crimes surface, clamouring for revenge, so it would seem that Love and Death are indeed about to make their entrance...
This is epic fantasy at its most imaginative, storytelling at its most exciting.

Erikson does it again.
While some books in this series are more moving than others, Erikson never fails to engage the reader on every page. All the masochistic sorrow you know and love is here for your listening pleasure.

Death
Oh why did you kill one of my favourite characters. I thoroughly enjoyed this book as I have all the previous books in this huge tale. The narration by Michael Page is simply superb and cannot be faulted. I know I am coming closer to the end of a tale that I do not wish to end. So many fantastic hours of listening. Thank you Steven.

Astounding scale
All the threads are starting to come together. I have no idea how the last 2 books will end but I can't wait to find out.

Masterpiece
Michael is simply fantastic. This momentous production is yet another prove it.
The epic story with all the characters and factions can be a bit overwhelming and it sure takes some time to get all the names straight. Once enthralled you are sucked into the whirlwind of betrayals and schemes, the battles both verbal and physical.
With more than 40hours of book, this is a 12/10 bang per buck and 10/10 narration and production.

A waste of time
Struggled to care about the "epic" ending to the story. Best story line was the missing child Harlow. Everything else was overwrought and boring. Hopefully Erickson returns to writing plot driven stories in subsequent novels.
