About this listen
When a bomb destroys the Special Irish Branch of Scotland Yard, all fingers point to the increasingly brazen factions of Irish dissidents seeking liberation from English rule. Volunteering their services to the British government, Cyrus Barker and Thomas Llewelyn set out to infiltrate a secret cell of the Irish Republican Brotherhood known as the Invisibles. Posing as a reclusive German bomb maker and his anarchist apprentice, they are recruited for the group's ultimate plan: to bring London to its knees and end the monarchy forever.
Their adventures take them from an abandoned lighthouse on the craggy coast of Wales to the City of Light, where Llewelyn goes undercover with Maire O'Casey, the alluring sister of an Irish radical. Llewelyn again finds himself put to the test by his enigmatic employer as he is schooled in the deadly science of bomb making. Fraught with explosives, secret initiations, and vicious stick fights, and featuring historical figures such as Charles Parnell and W. B. Yeats, To Kingdom Come is a riveting sequel to Some Danger Involved.

A little bit of everything
Another great adventure filled with danger, plots, love, politics and more. I am enjoying the characters in these books. Ready for number 3!

I tried but couldn’t get past the bad accents
I was excited when I saw this series, I’m an avid audio book listener and always overjoyed to find a series I fancy that I haven’t read. Then I read the reviews, but was willing to give it a go, after all, we all have different likes and dislikes. In the first book I thought the borders Scottish accent was ok(ish) I could live with it, but the Caribbean Jewish offerings got a bit too much. I thought it’ll be ok I’ll get used to it in the 2nd, but far out, the N. Irish was appalling, and then they went to Liverpool (I was dreading it) and lo and behold not a scouse accent to be heard… obviously the narrator thought, ‘I just can’t do them so I won’t bother’… I liked the premise, a bit over the top Holmesian (sp?) it’s got some quirky characters and scenarios that work, but either do away with regional accents altogether, or get a better narrator, there are so many out there, maybe this guy was cheap? Please, get someone who can do British accents. I was so disappointed.
