About this listen
The course of true love never did run smooth....
When Fitzwilliam Darcy departs Hunsford after his disastrous proposal to Elizabeth Bennet, he does not expect their paths to cross again. Indeed, knowing the lady's true feelings for him, he makes every effort to see that they do not. But when a chance encounter leaves him stranded in an abandoned cottage with the one woman he can never have, Darcy quickly realizes there is more at risk than just Elizabeth's reputation.
Elizabeth Bennet knows Mr. Darcy is the last man in the world whom she could ever be prevailed on to marry. Until the morning he hands her a letter, his countenance as dark and forbidding as the windswept sky. Now, trapped in a snowstorm with the one person she was certain she despised, Elizabeth is startled to discover that her feelings are not at all what she expected.
But is one night alone together enough to alter the course of their future?
Can any man as proud as Mr. Darcy be expected to offer for the same woman a second time?
In this tale of serendipity and second chances, literature's unlikeliest couple must conquer pride, prejudice, and faulty first impressions in the elusive quest for their own happily ever after.

One of my favourite variations
I very much enjoyed this variation. The characters were great. I liked that there wasn’t angst just for the sake of it. There were some lough out loud moments and I found myself smiling throughout.
Thoroughly enjoyable and I hope Ms Altman writes more in this genre. A great storyteller.
Narration by Ms Zimmerman was perfect as usual.

very enjoyable!
I like how the author uses original Austen lines integrated in a whole new story line but therefore keeping the characters very recognisable.
The misunderstandings are well found, several unplanned meetings let you know the universe is trying to tell them something. All and all very enjoyable.
Zimmerman as always flawless in her story telling.

Brilliant book, brilliant narration. 📖😊💛
I read To Conquer Pride when it was first released through Kindle, 4 months ago. It was Jennifer Altman's debut novel and i do not exaggerate when I say it is one of the best P&P variations I have ever read; and I have read quite a few! 📚
I am friends with Jennifer on Facebook, and when she announced several weeks ago that her wonderful book was being made into an audiobook, I was thrilled (as I have many audiobooks as well) but when she said Stevie Zimmerman was going to be the narrator...well, my cup runneth over.
If you love P&P, and its myriad spinoffs, and if you love an excellently narrated audiobook, then, To Conquer Pride is a must buy‼️👍🏻

Nearly as wry as the original
I liked the irony and different scenes, that Darcy continued to say the worst things and Elizabeth wilfully misunderstood. Very cute.

Thoroughly enjoyable
This book didn’t stray too far from Austen’s world but was a fabulous listen, extremely well written without the trap that some of the variation novels fall into of the quick recap at the beginning. Stevie has spoilt me for any other narrator, no one else seems to get Darcy’s voice right.

I listened to this one twice!
I enjoyed this variation. Enough references to the original story to make it believable. Loveable characters. Many of the situations they found themselves in wouldn't have happened if truly set in time period but author gave reasons to make it seem okay. Enjoyed the easy listen so much that I later listened a second time and enjoyed it all over again.
