Publisher's Summary
Wishcrafter Darcy Merriweather might be a witch with the ability to grant wishes for others, but wishing isn't going to help her catch a killer....
When wishcrafter Darcy Merriweather's personal concierge company is hired by elite runner Abby Stillwell to organize the Wicked Mad Dash, a competition that takes place in the Enchanted Village, Darcy is more than willing to help her friend. As blizzard conditions rage on the morning of the race, Darcy's main concern is the terrible weather - until Abby goes missing...and is later found dead, buried in the snow.
As Darcy investigates her friend's untimely death, she learns she didn't really know Abby well at all. Those closest to the woman - her secret fiance, her roommate, her ex-boyfriend, and her coworkers at Balefire Sports - seem to have plenty to hide, too. As Darcy digs deeper, she uncovers complicated relationships, a possible embezzlement scheme, and allegations of cheating against a top athlete.
Just when Darcy is convinced she's hit a dead end in the case, a startling burglary and the hunt for Abby's elusive ex send Darcy down a dark, dangerous trail. It will take the help from friends, family, and a little bit of magic for Darcy to stop a stone-cold killer from striking again.

Interesting World Building but Unexplained Holes
I didn't realise this was the penultimate book of a series... or that it was the only one available on Audible. It seems odd to have Book 7 in isolation. Anyway, I enjoyed the set-up. The narration was fine, and the situation interesting. The things I found a bit annoying were

Darcy is a wishcrafter. So are, or were, her aunt, her stepdaughter elect and her mother. And yet... not one of them crafted a wish. No one did. The rules state they can't process their own wishes or one of a fellow wishcrafter, but still...
Next, deceased witches become (or can become) familiars. We have a dog, a dove, a macaw, and two mice. It's unclear what the rules are to become a familiar, but if any witch can do it, the place must be teeming with them. I kept wondering if the murdered Abbie would show up in familiar guise to solve her own murder and if not, why not. Then I discovered she gave up her powers. Still, it would seem imprudent to murder any witch who will probably come back as a mouse and out you as the killer. Maybe some of this is explained in the earlier books? I'd like to know how it all turns out, so if the last book comes up on Audible I'll grab it to find out.
