About this listen

Two teenagers discover true love aboard the doomed ocean liner....

Elizabeth Farr never wanted to return to America. During her family’s vacation abroad, she has fallen in love with England, and is despondent when her father refuses to let her stay. Returning to New York means having her debut into society, and that means a swiftly arranged marriage. Elizabeth will never go to college, never learn to be a reporter - as she sees it, her life is over as soon as the Titanic reaches port. Of course, if she’s unlucky, her life will be over far sooner than that.

As Elizabeth and her family settle into their first-class cabins, Katie Hanrahan, a young Irish girl with dreams of finding fortune in America, makes her way to a steerage berth. Both girls have plans for the future, but love and death are about to intervene.

A must for titanic enthusiasts

I remember reading this as a kid, fascinated with the Titanic. I enjoyed it then, and enjoyed it 20 years later now as an adult. Well written and a lovely recount of the disaster within a love story.

The class system

The women and children first and the lack of boats to save all the passengers on board and the loss of life.. always gets every time I read or watch anything on the Titanic. but if you are a Titanic buff like me this book is just another good story set on the beautiful ship. it is definitely with a read .The characters of Elizabeth, max and her parents give us a look at what it's like to be a first class passenger and what young women of that time were expected to do . Then there's Katie and Brian and paddy and we get a look at what life was like in 3rd class and to learn that only 125 3 rd class passenger's survived the sinking is incredibly sad. Yet I only learned that by reading this book. This is a good book and if love anything Titanic then this is a book for you.

"Put the Plug in...."

People had to remind lifebost crews to put the plugs in tha t allowed rain water to drain through boats when not in use. Theres lots of interesting facts in this version. This was a fact based fiction tale that was most enjoyable. Give it a go. Thanks Audible
