About this listen
In the volatile tinderbox of the Horn of Africa, Morgan Adler has made the paleoanthropological find of a lifetime. The discovery brings her to the attention of a warlord eager to claim both Morgan and the fossils, forcing her to make a desperate dash to the nearby US military base to beg for protection.
Master Sergeant Pax Blanchard has orders to intercept Dr. Adler before she reaches the base, and in so doing saves her life. After a harrowing afternoon, he safely delivers her to his commanders, only to find his responsibilities toward protecting the obstinate archaeologist have only just begun. Morgan and Pax are forced to work together in the Djiboutian desert heat, but it is the fire that ignites between them that threatens to combust them both. For the Green Beret, involvement with the woman he must protect is a threat to his career, while for the archaeologist, the soldier is everything she never wanted but somehow can't resist. When Morgan uncovers a mystery surrounding Djibouti's most scarce and vital resource, the danger to her reaches the flashpoint. For Pax, protecting her is no longer a matter of following orders, and he'll risk everything to bring her back alive.

Action aplenty
This is a great action adventure. The setting in the Horn of Africa had me checking on a map and reading up about the area - I really didn’t know a lot about it. This is a complicated interconnection of people and nationalities who are all out to get as much as they can from struggling nations. Water is the main source of possible power and conflict.
The relationships between the characters is is full of witty dialogue and sexual tension. The friendships between the men are strong and are demonstrated in their humour and willingness to back each other up.
Morgan is a strong and capable female lead. She is smart, sexy and knows her way around weapons and martial arts. She also has a big chip on her shoulder regarding her father. She is dedicated to doing the right thing for the people around her who can’t help themselves.
The reader of this story has a very easy voice to listen to. He has different inflections for each character.

Absolutely loved it!
Another great book by Rachel Grant!
As always great characters, and fantastic storytelling. The narrator Greg Tremblay did a great job with giving the characters voices and accents.
Loved how the tension was build up and held over the entire length of the book.
Should definitely be your next listen!

Brilliant!
This story is fantastic! It hooks you right from the start and never lets go. The complicated plot, the passion between Morgan and Pax, the interactions with the secondary characters, the information about lesser-known cultures and the total realism and plausibility. It's one of the best stories I've ever read. Thank you, Rachel Grant!
And the more times I listen to the story, the more I realise how good Greg Tremblay is. Whether he's reading action scenes or sex scenes, narrative or dialogue, his expression is fabulous. He has different voices for all the characters to the point that I can differentiate by his voice alone between the 6 major characters. This is an absolutely wonderful audio book. Highly recommended.
