Publisher's Summary
Brought to you by Penguin.
The audiobook of Thud is narrated by impressionist and actor Jon Culshaw, best known for BBC Radio 4’s Dead Ringers, and for the Doctor Who audiobooks and dramas. BAFTA and Golden Globe award-winning actor Bill Nighy (Love Actually; Pirates of the Caribbean; Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) reads the footnotes, and Peter Serafinowicz (Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace; Shaun of the Dead) stars as the voice of Death. Featuring a new theme tune composed by James Hannigan.
'FOR THE ENEMY IS NOT TROLL, NOR IS IT DWARF, BUT IT IS THE BALEFUL, THE MALIGN, THE COWARDLY, THE VESSELS OF HATRED, THOSE WHO DO A BAD THING AND CALL IT GOOD...'
In the city of Ankh-Morpork, tension is rising between dwarf and troll communities.
A dwarven fanatic has been stoking the flames of an old hatred born of the Battle of Koom Valley -an ancient war between the races that neither side has quite got over. When the dwarf is murdered, with a troll the only witness, Commander Sam Vimes of the City Watch must solve the case before history repeats itself.
With his beloved Watch crumbling around him and war drums sounding, Vimes must unravel every clue, outwit every assassin and brave any darkness to find the solution. But darkness is following him...
And at six o'clock every day he must go home to read a bedtime story to his son. There are some things you have to do.
Thud! is the seventh book in the City Watch series, but you can listen to the Discworld novels in any order.
The first book in the Discworld series - The Colour of Magic - was published in 1983. Some elements of the Discworld universe may reflect this.

Wake Up Bill and fire the sound fx guy
Nothing to say about the story, it's Pratchett and typically amazing.
Jon Culshaw's performance is great, but Bill Nighy sounds like he just woke up and couldn't care less. The sound effect played before and after Nighy reads the footnotes is more than a bit jarring and ruins the flow of an otherwise spectacular audiobook. The audio quality of the older books was easy to get over after a bit, but that sound effect just can't be ignored.
Nighy's performance and that sound effect are the only thing keeping this from being a 5 star.

Amazing Book
Narration continues to improve as series goes on. The book remains as good as it has allways been.

Fantastic narrator
I have always enjoyed Terry Pratchett’s City Watch series having read them each several times and listening to audio collections. However this audio narrated by Jon Culshaw ( with others) is excellent . I have deleted earlier audios with different narrator in favour of this narrator. His interpretation of Vimes in particular is colourful and sounds like “ a real copper” Look forward to listening to this again.
