About this listen

In Thrive, Arianna Huffington, the co-founder and editor-in-chief of the Huffington Post and one of the most influential women in the world, has written a passionate call to arms, looking to redefine what it means to be successful in today’s world. She likens our drive for money and power to two legs of a three-legged stool. It may hold us up temporarily, but sooner or later we’re going to topple over. We need a third leg – a Third Metric for defining success – in order to live a healthy, productive, and meaningful life.

In this deeply personal book, Arianna talks candidly about her own challenges with managing time and prioritising the demands of a career and two daughters. Drawing on the latest groundbreaking research and scientific findings in the fields of psychology, sports, sleep and physiology that show the profound and transformative effects of meditation, mindfulness, unplugging and giving, Arianna shows us the way to a revolution in our culture, our thinking, our workplaces, and our lives.

EVERYBODY NEEDS THIS BOOK!

I am just so thankful to Ariana for writing this book. So many topics covered that I've never even considered. I feel enlightened in the very best way possible. I also loved hearing Ariana personally narrate this book. it really gave it a personal feel. This is a book to give to everyone you know.

Everything just makes sense

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I am studying Positive Psychology and this book is a fantastic guide to the good life. It is totally in line with living a positive life. I am going to buy the hard copy too.

Any additional comments?

Thank you for a wonderful book. I loved it.

Good facts on what’s happening where!

My first audible book which I am leaving unfinished.
The book talks a lot about ‘what’s happening where’ and that too at 70’s pace. Wouldn’t recommend to those career Mums who are looking on some advice on how to do the everyday juggle.
Lesson learnt - don’t judge the book by its top reviews. Audible the app only shows best at the top :)

Balancing success and living

I found the topic of this biox exceptional and an important reminded that life is mroe than more money and success. This is a book mostly for high achievers and workaholics though, anyone else will probably not relate too much. It's also a reminded how American ideals of success are actually often toxic unless balanced. We only live once.
My only complain is that the same could be said in a lot less time, too many repetitive examples and repeated stories trying to hammer the point. I found myself paying less attention half way each topic as the value added diminished.

Not my favorite

I still made it to the end but was hoping for more, it think I was hoping for more of a biography and found the stories from other people a bit all over the place

I wanted to love this but ended up loathing it

What would have made Thrive better?

The narrator has a very heavy accent - and whilst we live in a wonderful world of diversity, its REALLY hard to listen to a heavy accent in this context. As an English speaker I couldn't get into any rhythm due to the language and trying to listen was a fight. I ended up losing the battle and gave up. I spoke to others who felt the same. Also disapointed that at least some of the information is repetitive from her Sleep Revolution book that I also have - felt a little cheated with some information replicated across both. However, the intent of the book is good and maybe if I had the hard copy, or had continued, I would have felt differently.

Would you be willing to try another one of Agapi Stassinopoulos’s performances?

Unfortunately no. I found her accent too difficult to get true rhythm and enjoyment out of a book.

Annoying voice

I’ve heard so many good things about this book but I just can’t listen to her voice - it is irritating
