About this listen
In Three Roads to Quantum Gravity, Lee Smolin provides an accessible overview of the attempts to build a final "theory of everything." He explains in simple terms what scientists are talking about when they say the world is made from exotic entities such as loops, strings, and black holes and tells the fascinating stories behind these discoveries: the rivalries, epiphanies, and intrigues he witnessed firsthand. Written with exceptional style and clarity, Three Roads to Quantum Gravity confronts the deepest questions of the nature of the universe and provides a preview of some of the remarkable scientific developments we can look forward to in the 21st century.

Beautiful narration. Tough subject matter!
Beautiful narration. A very well-written history of some of the most intellectually challenging concepts related to Quantum Theory and Einstein's General Theory of Relativity. Full of drama and anecdotes from a life in the quest for the elusive theory of Quantum Gravity. Makes you wish that you had a degree in science and then come to this, and not a literature student!

A great overview.
I really enjoyed my first run through. The overview of current thinking is accessible and informative. It also left me with a sense of progress that the field of quantum cosmology is making. We are at an exciting point and Smolin conveys this excitement very well.
I will listen to this a few times, I imagine, and glean more from it on each occasion.
Highly recommended!
