About this listen

Anxiety - it's the worst: choking, stifling, smothering, tingling, panicking, brain cutting out, bad decisions. You're a human being, so you know exactly what's being said here.

Dr. Faith Harper lays it all out: what anxiety is, what it's good for - that's right, it's actually a necessary response that helps to keep us alive in bad situations - how to know when it's gone overboard, and practical tips on how to deal with it when it gets bad. This book is a lifesaver for panic attacks, breaking out of flight-or-fight-or-freeze responses, and for chronic anxiety. It's also good for folks who aren't daily burdened by anxiety, but want to better cope with those tough situations that affect us all. Listen to this and breathe!

F bomb

I was going to share this with my daughter until the opening paragraph used profanities. The book then somehow conflated “make white privilege” woke speak with anxiety… not sure what happened after that…. Ended it there

Short but comprehensive

This is a great little introduction to understanding why you are feeling as shit as you do. Light hearted, informative and based on scientific research, but not over the top and incomprehensible.

You’re better off getting Unf**k Your Anxiety

I don’t think there’s anything in this book that isn’t in Unf**k Your Anxiety. Save time/money and just get that instead. Faith Harper is good but after a few of her books the “in your face” swear words gets a bit tired.

Straight to the point

This book cuts to the point, makes very valid points and yes there is swearing (stop being pc) that is no fault of the reader, its self expression of the author of the book. The book has a message.

Disappointed

The message and essence of the book subject was lost to me because the foul language throughout the dialogue was totally unnecessary, and distracting. Writing cuss words into your narrative is one thing but hearing it spoken out loud throughout the book, put the topic and the author into the gutter. There should be a CAUTION message about the use of foul language so we can decide whether we want to download books like this. Other books by this author are now automatically on my 'BUY / READ' NO list.

Expletives were unexpected and unnecessary.

When getting a book on anxiety, written by a professional, you do not expect the it to be laced with expletives. I would have expected that they could have gotten their message a cross more succinctly without trying to be provocative. I stopped listening to the book because I found the language jarring.

Helpful but cringe

I found a few things quite interesting, mostly about the chemical imbalances. But I found it incredibly cringey with all the unnecessary swearing and “epic” and “totally” and obsession with cookies. It sounded really forced and obnoxious and made it hard to listen to. And I bloody love a good swear but that was like an older person trying to be “cool and hip and happening” with their “fellow youths”.

Not that great

A lot of name dropping and long lists of authors made it not that great,
