About this listen
Brought to you by Penguin.
Every time we eat, we have the power to radically transform the world we live in.
Our choices can help alleviate the most pressing issues we face today: the climate crisis, infectious and chronic diseases, human exploitation and, of course, non-human exploitation. Undeniably, these issues can be uncomfortable to learn about, but the benefits of doing so cannot be overstated. It is quite literally a matter of life and death.
Through exploring the major ways that our current system of animal farming affects the world around us, as well as the cultural and psychological factors that drive our behaviours, This Is Vegan Propaganda answers the pressing question, is there a better way?
Whether you are a vegan already or curious to learn more, this book will show you the other side of the story that has been hidden for far too long. Based on years of research and conversations with slaughterhouse workers and farmers, to animal rights philosophers, environmentalists and everyday consumers, vegan educator and public speaker Ed Winters will give you the knowledge to understand the true scale and enormity of the issues at stake.
This Is Vegan Propaganda is the empowering and ground-breaking book on veganism that everyone, vegan and sceptic alike, needs to hear.

Thought provoking and well argued.
If you've read or listened to other books about Veganism, this doesn't cover too much new ground, but it's well presented and argued. Ed is a great speaker and his passion certainly comes through. A good starting point if you are new to Veganism and a timely reminder for those already Vegan about why we choose this way of life. The section on pandemics is particularly fitting.

A must read for vegans and non vegans
Winters is a great storyteller and supports all his points with an array of facts that astound and shock. It's told very much from an emphatic perspective and how people have a choice everyday about eating animal products. I've often read and been frustrated by news articles that convieniently sidestep animal suffering when assessing the merits of plant based diets but Winters tackles this head on as his main argument (among many).
This is great journalism that forensically analyses the inefficiency, waste, expense, and environmental impact of animal farming. Winters explains his change and story as a self professed former KFC addict.
One of the most incredible stats in the book is how much animal farming relies on taxpayer subsidies compared to fruit farming (honestly, there are so many astonishing statistics that Winters cites throughout the book that make this a brilliant piece of work).
Winters is also a very good narrator and you can hear the passion in him in his performance. I will re listen to this as the volume of facts, numbers and stats can be slightly overwhelming.
A great book that hopefully many millions will read.

Best case for Veganism since Animal Liberation.
This is the final, decisive case for Veganism.
Ed doesn't leave a gap for the ones on the opposite side of the debate. Every aspect is thoroughly addressed with a perfect balance between empathy and incisiveness.

A must-read for non-vegans, vegetarians and vegans
Ed has written an incredible book, based on his years of research and activism. He is also a great narrator, and keeps you engaged in the content. I would say this book is for all as it will educate non-vegans and vegans of the complexity of the cause. It isn't just about the animals themselves, but the very system of food production we have created that has helped many diseases and pandemics to thrive throughout our own history.
With climate change being a threat to all species and life on our planet, the major thing we can do is change the very systems that are hurting our planet. Aside from Coal, Oil and Gas needing to stay in the ground, we need to reshape our agricultural systems and return land to nature. In western and developed nations, the biggest thing we can do at home is eat a Plant-based diet.
