About this listen
The hunter becomes the hunted.
Life for Sterling the vampire is sweet in sleepy Silveropolis. Blood is in easy supply with college kids and cryptid hunters swarming the town for mountain madness, an annual search for an elusive creature known as Smallfoot.
But another corpse is discovered in the woods. Are the Everetts back? Is it a ritual killing or a random murder? With the help of a brooding journalist and a jealous storm god, Sterling must investigate before it’s too late. The victim was staked through the heart, after all.
A vampire hunter has come to Silveropolis.

Loads of interesting and creative ideas!
Much to mouthy vampire Sterling’s annoyance, it’s Mountain Madness Week in Silveropolis and the town is crawling with college dudes intent on finding supernatural creatures. Even worse, someone is taking this a bit too far and staking potential vampires. With his ever-growing posse, which now includes Gil (surly werewolf), Asher (naive necromancer), Roth (Norse god of Thunder and electrician) and Tabitha (ninja witch with attitude), Sterling must track down the killer before they strike again.
There are loads of interesting and creative ideas here and I enjoy the humour and zany characters in this series, but I felt this urban fantasy spun its plot-wheels at times while the characters faffed about a lot for comedic purposes—I’ve had to adjust my expectations and just enjoy the chaotic journey. Sterling again flirts wildly, breaking hearts but not getting serious about anyone = not a romance. The plot is actually moving forward quite fast in places and I’m excited to see where it goes. 🎧 Nick Podehl really is thoroughly entertaining here, he gives all the characters their own voices and hits the action and comedic notes perfectly.
