About this listen

Welcome to the hectic world of beauty and business in this highly relatable novel following a talented hair stylist turned entrepreneur juggling family dramas, workplace near-catastrophes and relationship crises. Things will calm down soon…right?

Hair stylist Kit Cooper is at the top of her game. She does the shows in Milan and Paris, tends to pop stars and celebrities, and has styled enough campaigns and magazine covers to last a lifetime. But Kit is ambitious. Restless. She can't help asking: what's next?

One day, frustrated she can't find the perfect product for a look, she wonders ... could she make it herself?

THINGS WILL CALM DOWN SOON takes Kit from idea to founder of a highly successful hair-care company. Amid spreadsheets, influencers, product launches and a parade of potential investors, Kit is juggling an eager young team, needy family members, a charismatic but unreliable romantic partner, single parenting and far too many school WhatsApp messages. She is certain, positive, things will calm down soon, because how can life possibly keep going at this pace?

As the founder of Go-To Skincare, Zoë Foster Blake has learned a lot in her decade of business. THINGS WILL CALM DOWN SOON blends her love of fiction with the knowledge she has acquired in business, entrepreneurship, and mergers and acquisitions. Part entertainment, part founder insight, THINGS WILL CALM DOWN SOON is an entirely new breed of illuminating storytelling.

Loved it!

This really got my brain going! As a business owner I loved all the biz chat & the family balance struggles. Something really different about this one - in the best way!

Must read for any aspiring business woman!

I wasn’t sure of the high focus on business terms and jargon to start with but I was obsessed with it by the end. The way that Kit came into her own through the process of developing and then selling the business was captivating! Was also constantly questioning which parts of of Zoe Foster-Blake real life experience were in the book which totally had me hooked. Loved it!

Interesting and informative

This is an interesting read and characters likeable. However I couldn’t shake the feeling of this just being about Zoe Foster Blake’s life and experience. I couldn’t connect with the characters because of that. And some bits felt a bit preachy / how-to-start-a-business guide rather than a story.

I loved this! Great mix of business jargon, mum life WhatsApp chat and a little bit of cheeky romance thrown in for good measure. It has it all x

A must read for start ups and people interested in start ups

I wouldn't usually choose a fiction and I am not familiar with Zoe Foster Blake's previous books. I heard her on an episode of The imperfects and thought I'd give it a go.
Whilst it's a fiction story, it's so informative about business especially start ups and the reality of running a small business!
I absolutely loved it and am sad it's finished!
So well written. Zoe is a real talent!
