About this listen

A heart is a dangerous thing to steal.

From New York Times best-selling author Lexi Ryan, Cruel Prince meets A Court of Thorns and Roses in this sexy, action-packed fantasy about a girl who is caught between two treacherous faerie courts and their dangerously seductive princes.

Brie would do anything before making a deal with the Fae; death is better than their vicious schemes. But when her sister is taken by the sadistic king of the Unseelie court, there is nothing Brie wouldn't do to get her back - including making a deal with the king himself to steal three magical relics from the rival Seelie court.

Gaining unfettered access to the Seelie court is easier said than done. Brie's only choice is to pose as a potential bride for the Seelie Prince, Ronan - a prince who's not quite as wicked as she once thought. Unwilling to let her heart distract her, she accepts help from a band of Unseelie misfits with their own secret agenda. But as Brie spends time with their mysterious leader, Finn, she finds herself struggling to resist his seductive charm.

Caught between two dangerous courts, Brie must decide who to trust with her loyalty...and with her heart.

Great read

Enjoyed this book immensely. Yes definitely a perfect balance of Sarah Maas amazing work and the incomparable works of the cruel prince series of Holly Black. Can’t wait for the next instalment to this fascinating story. So very intriguing of the fairy machinations and their whims. No one is truly absolved of evil but surely goodness will triumph in the end. Great to see Brie find her own voice even as she makes mistakes.

Engrossing and beautifully narrated

I really devoured this book! Excellent narration and a captivating story. It’s YA spice level, super enjoyable plot.

Fantastic

Although i tend to get annoyed with an unintelligent female lead who can’t see all the things we the reader can see and predict (or at least most of them) - i thought this was a great story, well written and thoroughly enjoyable!

Great story, production annoying

The actress continuous over dramatizing made it hard to stay with the book. The whispering is too quiet so you need to turn the volume up and the. Get prepared for loudness later. These factors lessened my enjoyment.

I dont feel HOLLOW after this one!

“Where do you think legends begin, if not from truth?”

A fun YA fantasy book. A little bit Red Queen, a little bit A Court of Thorns and Roses, a little bit Cinderella. Lots of tropes that I kinda loved; love triangle, curses, betrayal, feuding courts, the good prince vs the morally grey prince. Totally felt the ACOTAR vibes especially during the summer solstice part, dancing and faerie wine, am I right.
I’m always a sucker for the bad boy but so many times during this I didn’t know who I wanted her to be with! Lots of secrets that kept you guessing. The first half was a bit slow, but it really picked in the second half, and I couldn’t put it down.
That ending has me excited for the next one!

Not a total game changer but I did enjoy myself. If you like ACOTAR, it’s a fun read and worth checking out.

Overall Mid but Enjoyable

I give it like a 3.5 for performance and a 3.75 for story. The performance was good on most parts but mannnn the male protagonists both sound depressed and constipated. The story was pretty predictable and cliche but it was written well and was still immersive. I liked the twist at the end even though I saw it coming from a mile away. Just a good filler if you’re unsure of what to read next.

awesome 👌

This one hooked me. Now I'm waiting for the next book.
A few flaws in the storyline where I wondered why the character didn't think of this or that.

The ending was great but now I'm left waiting. ...sigh. Bring it on.

a decent read

I enjoyed this book. IT was a touch predictable, but enjoyable none the less. I didn't love the narrator, but she did a decent enough job. worth the credit, and good enough that I got book 2
