About this listen
There Is No Wall is ultrarunner Allie Bailey's brutally honest and sometimes shocking account of alcoholism, depression and severe mental breakdowns which almost cost her her life.
Told with disarming vulnerability, heartbreaking depth of feeling and dark humour, this isn't a story about how running saved her–she was already running and at the height of her struggles sometimes even winning 100-mile-plus races. But somewhere between the darkest excesses of the music industry and the simple beauty of the ultrarunning scene, Allie found space to listen, learn and put into practice techniques that would go on to save her life and change it for the better.
There Is No Wall is a story about how doing something you love can lead you to achieve things you never thought possible. Running won't save you, but it might buy you the time to save yourself.

"I can't be an alcoholic, I'm a runner"
powerful and thought provoking, and difficult to listen to at points, but I am very glad that I did. I laughed, I cried, and I finished it with 24 hours.
Allie thank you for sharing your story with such brutal honesty.

The straight forward language
Relative to other quit lit I think this is up there in the top 50% relatable. It would i think suit you if you are sub 50, active and fit on the surface, troubled and hooked on wine or beer underneath. There were some really good parts. I fast forwarded the deep descriptive paragraphs about race running. Not relatable for me but I guess there is an audience. The last chapter sum up had some wise nuggets of gold told how it is. Yes. It’s worth a listen. The narration is excellent. It has a little tendency to be in the category of how bad it got which can feel a bit like, yes, we know, but she dies balance it out in the last third of the book with hope and shared tips.
