Publisher's Summary

At twenty-two, free-spirited Amber Farrow has no concerns beyond finishing her final year of nursing on exchange in Australia. What she hasn't counted upon is crossing paths with Griffin Lee. Amber and Griffin's two hearts are clearly made for each other. But where Griffin is inclined to put down roots, Amber has always been a citizen of the world, treading lightly upon the earth, never staying too long in one place. Before long, Amber's inability to be still leaves Griffin behind.

At thirty, Amber has built a life of constant exploration and humanitarian nursing—yet she's haunted by the memory of Griffin. After narrowly surviving a near-fatal accident, she reckons with her lingering passion and no small measure of regret. Following her heart could mean tying herself down, or it could be her chance to rewrite her life's journey.

In the joyful spirit of David Nicholls' One Day and Emily Henry's You and Me on Vacation, a romantic story from Minnie Darke about the roads we choose, the chances we miss, and the beautiful, unexpected ways our paths can bring us back together again.

Editorial Review

Utterly charming
When traveling nurse Amber sees truck headlights careening toward her car, it’s not her life that flashes before her eyes, but her regrets. Her biggest regret? Griffin Lee. Or rather, time and a life not spent with Griffin, a gifted painter she met (and briefly dated) in uni. From there, The Yellow Wood jumps timelines and points of view as the listener journeys alongside Griffin and Amber on their respective paths until they diverge again ... and again ... in a second (or is it third?) chance love story. Remy Hii and Aisha Aidara deliver beautiful, complementary performances that propel the narrative forward, creating a tension and a chemistry that’s rare in an alternating-point-of-view novel. This was my first listen by Minnie Darke, and I can’t wait to explore the rest of her catalog. — Katie O., Audible Editor

A beautiful short story.

This was a lovely tale of lost and found love, and a journey to enjoy! The narrators were perfect for the roles which made it even more enjoyable. Worth a read, for sure.

A modern day story, I guess.

The performances were a little twee. Over-annunciated for example. There were a few good moments in the story but it was mainly predictable.

Romance Narrative

Nicely written and portrayed and if you like romance you'll probably like this one but I'm not a fan of this genre.

What the heart wants, the heart wants.

I loved the humanity of the story. Someone said, 'We live life forward, but only understand it backwards,' or something like that.
We all have regret of one kind or another, but still we must march forward anyway.
