A scary tale with an unexpected ending

It took some time to really get into this story. The author was perhaps too effective in making Fiona's solitary life totally understood. But there were times later in the book when I was saying out loud, "Noooo!" Fiona's naivety and gullibility were so frustrating. Still, the second half of the book I simply had to finish!
