About this listen
The secrets that bind us can also tear us apart…
1990. Harriet is a journalist. Her job takes her to dangerous places, where she asks questions and tries to make a difference. But when she is sent to Romania, to the state orphanages the world is only just learning about, she is forced to rethink her most important rule.
2018. Ellie is a gardener. Her garden is her sanctuary, her pride and joy. But, though she spends long days outdoors, she hasn’t set foot beyond her gate for far too long. Now someone enters her life who could finally be the reason she needs to overcome her fears.
From post-revolution Romania to the idyllic English countryside, The World at My Feet is the story of two women, two worlds, and a journey of self-discovery that spans a lifetime.

Brilliantly read beautiful story
I loved all of this! The story had some unexpected twists and was hard to put down. The author did an amazing job of capturing feelings and emotions of a very difficult situation. Heart wrenching at times.

Great story of growth, love, support & resilience
This was the first book I had listened to by Catherine Isaac and it was excellent. Isaac gives us a masterfully written story, which expertly portrays the impact of early childhood adversity through Ellie's life and a journey of healing - of finding self and finding love. The narrator did a great job of capturing the different characters and the changing affect of Ellie. I will definately listen to more by Isaac and Ackroyd.

Great story but annoying little boy voice
Loved this but the little boy voice really annoyed me. Sounded like a very naughty little boy when in fact he was just a sweet wee guy.
