About this listen
Brought to you by Penguin.
Murder, politics and intrigue.
When the young half-goblin emperor Maia sought to learn who had set the bombs that killed his father and half-brothers, he turned to an obscure resident of his Court, a Prelate of Ulis and a Witness for the Dead.
Thara Celehar found the truth, though it did him no good to discover it. Now he lives in the City of Amalo, far from the Court though not exactly in exile. He has not escaped from politics, but his position gives him the ability to serve the common people of the city, which is his preference.
He lives modestly, but his decency and fundamental honestly will not permit him to live quietly.

Thara Celehar
A Prelate of Ulis and a Witness for the Dead. Thara Celehar - he's a lonely man but follows his calling - and he does it all with style. The reader wants to follow Thara - days in the life of a witness for the dead! There are adventures and tender moments and I liked this book much more than Goblin Emperor (but the GE needs to come before this one to set the scene and also chronologically). Good writing and such a great narrator - he breathes life into Thara and all the characters. The only thing that is a struggle with these books when you listen is keeping track of the names if only because of the titles used.

confusing
I simply couldn't keep track of the characters and kept loosing the plot. The unexplained honorific titles didn't help. I also felt left in the dark about the narrator's backstory. He refers to a prior disgrace.
Not recommended unless you have a knack for remembering names.

Wonderful, rich mythology
A joy to listen to. The characters became friends that I will miss spending time with. Excellent performance too.
