About this listen
Exclusive to Audible! Listen to a discussion between the author and the narrator of The Widow at the end of this recording.
We've all seen him: the man - the monster - staring from the front page of every newspaper, accused of a terrible crime.
But what about her: the woman who grips his arm on the courtroom stairs - the wife who stands by him?
Jean Taylor's life was blissfully ordinary. Nice house, nice husband. Glen was all she'd ever wanted: her Prince Charming.
Until he became that man accused, that monster on the front page. Jean was married to a man everyone thought capable of unimaginable evil.
But now Glen is dead, and she's alone for the first time, free to tell her story on her own terms.
Jean Taylor is going to tell us what she knows. ©2016 Fiona Barton (P)2015 Audible, LtdCritic Reviews

Emotionally gripping
Such a wonderful first book from Fiona Barton - I hope she has another waiting for us! The characters in this book were original and totally believable. It was written from a unique angle in that we heard the story from different characters which somehow made the story deeper and more emotional. Fiona handled the subject of the book tactfully and skilfully with no great insights or descriptions, and for this I applaud her. The plot was a gripping, interesting, insightful psychological thriller. Clare Corbett is, as usual, amazing and it is no wonder she is well respected and in great demand. I would give this book 10 if I could. Just superb.

Kept me hooked!
Listened to the whole thing in 2days!
Could have listened to it not stop if I didn't have to sleep!
The ending was a bit abrupt but I'm hoping that's because it's open for a sequel.
Narrator did a superb job! Really owned all the characters!
Helped by how well written it was.
Very much enjoyed! Thank you and look forward to more!

Top Shelf
Really enjoyed this story of a family drama - love, passion, loss, struggle, envy, hatred - and depression - well done to both Author and Narrator.

Hooked immediately
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This got me in from the first few words. The story is intriguing and written so that it keeps you guessing. Thoroughly enjoyed and couldn't turn if off until I knew what had happened.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Widow?
Not sure of memorable moments, the story was so intertwined that it flowed and each new piece of information held your attention.
Have you listened to any of Clare Corbett’s other performances? How does this one compare?
No I haven't heard her before, but I thought she was excellent.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Definitely. I rarely wear earphones whilst walking into work, but for this one I didn't want to turn it off until I actually had to.

Alright
this book was alright but not great. it kind of just went along without any great surprises. i think what kept me listening was the Narrator more than anything. i find this particular narrator very soothing.

Brilliant!
Clare Corbett was brilliant! I lox how she bought the characters to life with such mastery. Her vocal changes from character to character as well had intense range of emotions was sublime. One of my favourite performances and doing great justice to a wonderful first novel by Fiona Corbett. This would make a great movie!
