Not as good as others in the series

I was really looking forward to this book about Lucene. The start of the book was not enjoyable I got rather cross with how she turned this character into a bad man overall. But I persevered and the book improved as it went along.
I suggest if you are struggling with the start to maybe fast forward a bit.
