About this listen

The world ended, and with it, so did the rules.

I was stolen from my family and raised in the wastelands to the north. I did what I had to ensure my survival. I became the Champion, with my history carved into my skin for all to see.

Now, I spend my days drinking and hiding from my past, until four newcomers offer me a job I can't refuse. When my past and future mix, I must once again rise and fight. This time it's not for my freedom, it's for my happiness.

Contains mature themes.

not bad

I'm a fan of Hollie Jackson, but not sure why she was chosen for a British based novel. She doesn't do too badly with the vaguely British accent, well not as badly as other Americans. The story moves along well, creating the world without too much info dumping interrupting the story. It's an adventure story with some shmexy times. Ending is not an ending of course, just the first installment of a story. Hollie Jackson did well at bringing snarky humour to a violent post apocalyptic world (not usually my bag, but not too depressing as plenty of interpersonal interactions).

DNF lacks depth

Couldn't finish. Some parts were definitely interesting however tend to get lost in the plot or lack there of. A little confused if it's comedic or depressive. Maybe just not my cup of tea.
