Publisher's Summary

War is only the beginning...

From number one New York Times best-selling author Jennifer L. Armentrout comes book four in her Blood and Ash series.

From the desperation of golden crowns...

Casteel Da’Neer knows all too well that very few are as cunning or vicious as the Blood Queen, but no one, not even him, could’ve prepared for the staggering revelations. The magnitude of what the Blood Queen has done is almost unthinkable.

And born of mortal flesh...

Nothing will stop Poppy from freeing her King and destroying everything the Blood Crown stands for. With the strength of the Primal of Life’s guards behind her, and the support of the wolven, Poppy must convince the Atlantian generals to make war her way - because there can be no retreat this time. Not if she has any hope of building a future where both kingdoms can reside in peace.

A great primal power rises...

Together, Poppy and Casteel must embrace traditions old and new to safeguard those they hold dear - to protect those who cannot defend themselves. But war is only the beginning. Ancient primal powers have already stirred, revealing the horror of what began eons ago. To end what the Blood Queen has begun, Poppy might have to become what she has been prophesied to be - what she fears the most.

As the Harbinger of Death and Destruction.

Everything was right!

Highly respect an author writes the words that should be told. The is a fantasy world yes fantasy, where what happens is possible and only our biases & overthinkin cant see the impossible come alive in the story. Be open minded this world is harsh chaotic and unforgiving - this is war. This Fantasy writing on Cultural &Ritual practises said are not the undoing its the freeing of the living.
Plus Stina Nielsen &Tim Campbell- reading, inflection, rasping and so right pauses made those words come Alive.

okay

I liked that volume a bit less than the previous ones. Story line is okay and there are some good twists.
Sex scenes are tooooo long and repetitive and made me skip some bits.

Loved this series

The book wasn’t as cracking fast as the first 3 but still a good listen. Was a bit off putting having a male voice introduced on this book but still worked well.

Interesting but frustrating

My feelings are mixed on this last book. I have loved this series, but it almost felt too drawn out, too long a wait for pieces to start falling in to place. It made me almost want to skip to the end. And then I wanted to hear about her finding her father, and having that reunion before sending him home, but it ended before that. Hopefully that is told in the next book!
I still enjoyed the series, narrators were great, and I cannot wait for the next book! Hopefully without too much extra fluff haha

So Many Mixed Feeling 😩

Noooo! I can’t believe I’m saying this, but damn… I feel like I’ve been cheated out of a good story!😩

After finishing Book 3 on such a high, I had huge expectations for this book, and now that I’ve finished it… I feel 😳😳😳

Why, oh why, would JLA mess with the winning formula of her previous books??? And what’s with all the word dumping??? Seriously, it felt as if she was trying to stretch out her storyline by adding over the top descriptive writing to all her scenes (I’m embarrassed to admit that I kinda switched off on numerous occasions during the endless repetitive and dramatic dialogue). 🙈

Personally, I felt the best part of the storyline was the in last quarter of the book, where most of the “exciting stuff” happened. But damn it JLA! Chapter 44 should’ve been earth shattering… instead it was over before it began!!! 😩

My favourite new character in this series was hands down REAVER, the shape shifting Draken. I absolutely loovved him, especially when he was in his hot and sexy naked human form; and his sarcastic sense of humour was an added bonus! 👌🏼

Will I continue with this series, you ask? Yes, of course I will. I’ve come too far to give up now, especially when the REAL war is about to begin! Bring on book five!

The twists

Good story but the twists are so difficult and dramatic that the characters and questions make for more questions.
