beautifully written and beautifully read
I disliked nothing, I really liked the end where all the threads were tied off

some wonderful writing
Book two builds upon the idea of Fionavar being the base world for all our known myths, but it is difficult to know who is who sometimes and how Arthurian Legend meets Lord of the Rings is actually going to work - especially with some University Canadian students thrown in for good measure. Still, this is a story about good versus evil and since GGK is writing it, it is worth the read. I want to know what happens. I find this series a bit raunchier than his other books - there is even a night dedicated to everyone getting laid! But given this series came out earlier in his career, he clearly learns and grows from this as a writer (I find most of his love scenes and stories beautiful and well written in most of his books whereas it's all a bit amateur in this series). I like the way he incorporates the themes of legend and myth and love how he likes to finish the first two books with a bit of a cliffhanger - so if you were not invested in wanting to know what happens you will be! GGK's writing is wonderful as usual and I always love the way he uses the natural world and seasons to show the imbalance going on - with book 1 we had a Fionavar drought and with book 2 we are trapped in an eternal winter. Some wonderful writing as usual, simple truths, and good narration - “There is always grief. It is joy that is the rarest thing,”
