About this listen

Welcome to Nocturne Falls, the town that celebrates Halloween 365 days a year.

The tourists think it's all a show: the vampires, the werewolves, the witches, the occasional gargoyle flying through the sky. But the supernaturals populating the town know better.

Living in Nocturne Falls means being yourself. Fangs, fur, and all.

Sebastian Ellingham isn't known for being a happy vampire. And when his long estranged wife returns expecting to pick up where they left off, things take a sharp turn toward cranky. Sure he's been protecting her for centuries, but her assumption that he's still available (he is) rankles.

His answer is to hire a woman to play his fiancée. The lucky victim is Tessa Blythe, sister of one of the town's deputies, librarian in need of a job and, oh yes, reluctant Valkyrie. Playing along with Sebastian is all about the end game: earning the position of Dean of Library Studies at the local private academy.

When unexpected sparks fly between them, they agree to mutually deny the attraction. Fate, however, has other plans....

The same but better.

Very over the repetitiveness of this series. Its not like the series is bad, but I would appreciate a bit more .... complexity? substance? intrigue? .... something more.
That being said this is probably my second favourite couple in this series. I like how all these stories link into one another and how the world has continuity. Some really good stories fall flat because they don't have that. Despite being superficial fluffy stories I would say they are definitely well planed out.
And even though it'll probably be more of the same I'm still keen to read the next book.

Sweet

As always Kristen delivers another story and it didn't disappoint, easy listening and no heavy drama just fun all around, the only complaint i have is there should be sex scenes thrown in we are all adult and it would just be an icing to the cake than and it make this good story to fantastic :P tnx xox

Rating the series as a whole

I've been listening to this series for a week or two now and am quite captivated by it as a whole. The stories are interesting and diverse, and for once we have couples that don't doubt each other at the first sign of an interfering troublemaker. It makes the story a lot shorter, but such a relief from the norm!! What I really enjoy is that all these stories force the characters to be open and honest with eachother in a very short period - 2 to 3 days for the longer novels and within a few hours for the shorter ones.

I love Kristen's willingness to branch out on how the supernaturals should behave. E.g. vampires can and do eat regular meals like humans, and newly turned vamps aren't all that worried about being tempted to kill their human friends.

BJ Harrison is a bloke and this is the first time I've listened to a man narrating a romance series: I love his work. Very nicely done. He has a tiny little bit of trouble giving sisters different voices but then I'm equally appreciative of the fact that he doesn't give them different accents like some narrators do in an attempt to differentiate the characters. The men in this series all have different voices and and it's truly wonderful to listen to the variety, but even better for these characteristics to remain constant throughout the entire series.
