When Gwen Bray replies to a wife-wanted ad in the newspaper, she does it mostly as a joke. She never expects to get a reply. And she certainly doesn't expect that the ad was placed by the mysterious, wealthy vampire couple that owns half of her hometown. Soon, however, she's wrapped up with a bow and presented to their son, Elijah.
Elijah doesn't want to marry. Marriage would mean settling down on his family's estate and taking on more duties. It would leave him with no time to travel or have fun. So when he receives a bride as an early Christmas present, it shatters all his plans. Despite his misgivings, Elijah whisks Gwen on a worldwide trip to show her just what being married to the wealthy vampire will entail.
He finds himself drawn to the spunky woman who insists that she doesn't want a cold-blooded man as her partner. But Gwen is up against forces she has no experience with, and she soon finds herself drawn into a breathless romance.
