About this listen
At a crossroads between a cringe-worthy past (Todd the Toad) and an uncertain future (she's not exactly homeless, but it's close), Lucy Swift travels to Oxford to visit her grandmother. With Gran's undying love to count on and Cardinal Woolsey's, Gran's knitting shop, to keep her busy, Lucy can catch her breath and figure out what she's going to do.
Except it turns out that Gran is the undying. Or at least, the undead. But there's a death certificate. And a will, leaving the knitting shop to Lucy. And a lot of people going in and out who never use the door - including Gran, who is just as loving as ever, and prone to knitting sweaters at warp speed, late at night. What exactly is going on?
When Lucy discovers that Gran did not die peacefully in her sleep, but was murdered, she has to bring the killer to justice without tipping off the law that there's no body in the grave. Between a hot 500-year-old vampire and a dishy detective inspector, both of whom always seem to be there for her, Lucy finds her life getting more complicated than a triple cable cardigan. The only one who seems to know what's going on is her cat...or is it...her familiar?

Cozy listen
Haven't read / listen to many cozy paranormal books, but I did enjoy this as a quick listen. Sarah Zimmerman does a great job as narrator. There isn't much in the way of romance in this story. I did find the main characters reaction to some things a bit tame, like finding out her grandmother was now a vampire or that there were vampires in general. It doesn't go in depth as I like so may not continue on with this series. But if your into cozy mystery then would recommend this.

light and fluffy fun
I don't usually do vampires or occult stuff, but this is really very light and fun. Sort of early Buffy without gore. Mostly it's murder mystery in Oxford, something I do enjoy. It got me in by thinking of vampires taking up knitting to get thru the boringness of immortality. (I knit to help me get thru chronic illness life which similarly drags on). Looking forward to the rest which I'm sure I'll get thru in no time. Yes the narrator is not great, but definitely not the worst. She can manage a passable English accent which is better than most American narrators (though in the second book proves that Scottish and Australian are beyond her).

a nice easy listen
it was a bit of a struggle at some points. The story was ok very simple and a little over descriptive. If you are looking for something cosy to fall alseep to it will do the job. overall a good performance for a simple and easy story.

Very enjoyable
I liked it a lot. The Old woman voice the narrator does is amazing, it's hard to believe is one person.
