Publisher's Summary

Mesmerising, darkly erotic, terrifying, The Vampire Armand is an historic instalment to Anne Rice's internationally best-selling Vampire Chronicles.

Magnificent and electrifying, The Vampire Armand tells the tale of the mesmerising leader of the vampire coven the Theatre des Vampires in Paris.

This angel-faced killer was snatched from the steppes of Russia as a child and sold as a slave in Renaissance Venice. From there Armand's story spans several hundred years, culminating in a visit to New Orleans at the end of the 20th century.

Here his victims await either death or immortality. But once there his own existence comes into question when he must choose between salvation and his immortal soul.

Slow and mechanical sounding

Not the best of the Vampire Chronicles. Found this one slow and quite boring until about half way through.
I found the reader very mechanical sounding, almost computer generated sounding.

Fascinating continuation

I love Anne rice for her contemplations as much as her characters and plots - this book does not disappoint

Unnecessarily erotic

I’ve like the majority of the vampire Chronicles so far however I found this book to be unnecessarily erotic. It is very visual and unlike the other stories in the series it doesn’t seem to be a progression to the story other than flushing out the character Armand. There were some sections in the story to listen to you and I found myself skipping through those areas. I am personally not homophobic but found the level of detail that she goes into to be quite difficult to listen to.

So boring

Omg I feel bad but I really didn’t enjoy this compared to The Vampire Lestat and Queen of the Dammed which I’ve read twice. There’s no plot here lol
I miss all the adventure and dark humour that you get with Lestat. Soz Armand but no.
And the narrator sounded just as bored.

Below average

Narrator was not expressive. Quite monotone. This was not as good as the other Vampire Chronicle books. I found it very up and down. Boring then good, boring then good. I wouldn’t listen to it again.

Almost Porn

Disappointing since Tale of the Body Thief. Too erotic early on, to almost being porn.
