About this listen
If everyone is looking to secure a relationship with their perceived best option, then the perception of value must be at the heart of human coupling. In this groundbreaking work, psychologist Orion Taraban sets forth his economic model of relationships and exposes the often uncomfortable laws that govern the sexual marketplace. After listening to "The Value of Others," you'll never look at relationships the same way again.

A different and better angle of dating and relationships.
I can't recommend this highly enough for anybody wanting to know more about how several black-boxes of intimate relationships work. Definitely a book I will go through several times more.

If you enjoyed the work of David Buss's Evolution of Desire, you'll love this book.

Confronting and so true
Wow. What a book. As a woman in my 60's I learned a lot about stuff I didn't know. The book also articulated and confirmed whst I already knew or suspected. I strongly recommend this to anyone involved in dating, mating and relating. Especially the silver splitters like me who need to catch up on what is really happening out there.
Thankfully in New Zealand, most people I know want to meet locally and face to face.

Clear explanations
This is the best book I've read this year. He breaks down the fundamentals of mating and dating in such a way that is easy to understand and from both perspectives. This book has shined the light on some blind spots that were causing me to act in ineffective ways. I would recommend this book to all my friends.

This book will get you what you want.
The subtitle of this book sells itself short.
This book breaks down the games of status and power from first principles and gives you the blueprint for how to get what you want in all areas of life.

Good content, needlessly complex writing
The content ideas are good, if not tending to repetition. But I feel the author perhaps seeks to match big/obscure words and verbiage with the likes of Jordan Peterson and Rollo Tomassi, both masters of the convoluted and nonsensical. And the word 'functionally' is inserted into sentences to the point of distraction.
Nevertheless, 4 star-worthy and worth the listen. Very well narrated.

Groundbreaking
Clear, concise and eloquently presented, Orion's thoughts on this topic have radically transformed my understanding of intersexual dynamics. I look forward to implementing the ideas I have learned here in my life

The truth is depressing
I gave it 5 stars because there are profound take away stories however the truth is pretty dreadful. Sometimes ignorance is bliss!

Very interesting and well presented
Quite a few uncomfortable truths discussed. If you’re a cynical person, it might make you more cynical. However; If you can tussle with challenging ideas it’s a very valuable read/listen, with a lot of room to establish your own conclusions and choose what sort of relationships best serve you.
I would add, that value isn’t only transacted in relationships, value is often also created in relationships. ie the whole is greater than the sum of the individual parts.
